Sergio Orozco-Echeverri

With a background in philosophy and physics and a PhD in Science Studies from the University of Edinburgh, Profesor titular (Full Professor) at the Instituto de Filosofía, Universidad de Antioquia, Paul Oskar Kristeller Fellow of the RSA (2022), Lisa Jardine Grant Holder of the Royal Society of London (2023), Frances A Yates Fellow of the Warburg Institute (2024-2025), Berenson Fellow, i Tatti – Harvard (2025-2026) and Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. General Editor of Estudios de Filosofía. Member of the Executive Board of Scientiae. Head of the Research Group Conocimiento, Filosofía, Ciencia, Historia y Sociedad. His research focuses on early modern astronomy/ astrology, cosmography, medicine and natural philosophy, particularly in England, Scotland and the Iberian-American world.


Leandro Soto Giraldo

Master’s student in Philosophy with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (Universidad de Antioquia, Seccional Oriente). Leandro is currently developing his research on Digital Humanities and Philosophy in Colombia.


Lorena Gutiérrez López

Undergraduate student in Philosophy (Universidad de Antioquia). Lorena is actually researching the conceptual and practical uses of eclipses in sixteenth-century Spain and the Americas.


Pablo Mejía Betancur

Undergraduate student in Philosophy (Universidad de Antioquia). Pablo writes his undergraduate thesis on conceptual approaches to concepts of nature as displayed in history.


Yonatan Durán Maturana

Bachelor of Arts in History and Master of Philosophy (Universidad de Antioquia). Yonatan is interested in the interactions between science, politics, and knowledge in nineteenth-century South America. He is currently a PhD student at Basel University (Switzerland), researching violence and animals in the nineteenth century.


Sebastián Toro Posada

Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (Universidad de Antioquia, Seccional Oriente) and Master of Philosophy from Instituto de Filosofía. Sebastián currently teaches and researches on environmental history, conservation, and public understanding of science.
